TALES OF BEASTS AND PERILS VOLUME ONE
Become a creator of worlds!

Tales of Beasts and Perils is a gamemaster’s guide to writing and running adventures for the Tales of Blades and Heroes fantasy roleplaying game. It includes rules and guidelines for:

Creating magic items;
Dangers of the world, including traps, poison, disease, falling damage, curses, slimes, jellies, molds, fear, and encounters with dangerous beasts and humanoids;
New special rules to create monsters;
Monsters and foes, including detailed profiles for unicorns, dark unicorns, dragons, iron devourers, giant spiders, chimeras, Coroimba savages, Undead, and humanoids;
Guidelines for balancing encounters;
Sample special rules for typical fantasy races; and
a point cost summary of all the abilities featured inTales of Blades and Heroes and Tales of Beasts and Perils.

This PDF version comes in a full color, 47 page illustrated version; an inksaving version with all illustrations and page backgrounds removed; and an inksaving, compressed version (just the rules in a smaller type so you can print them saving both ink and paper).

TBH NPC creation point cost list 0

TBH NPC Creation point system

The above is a one page sheet for GMs of TBH with all the point costs on a single page. It is handy when creating monsters. This will be a sort of living rulebook, as all rule costs from supplements, adventures etc will be added. Future editions will use a color coding system so you know which book a rule is from. For the moment, enjoy this plain vanilla version.

Fan-created rules will NOT be added (unless we make them official) but you are of course free to create another version of the same file with your house-ruled add-ons, just make it clear in the file name that it is not official to avoid confusion.

Feel free to share this!

TBH and DSLB as printed books for our US customers. Working on it! 0

I am working on a new version of the TBH and DSLB PDFs to make them available as full-color print books on WargameVault/RPGNow for our US-based customers (since the book will be shipped from the US this is done to help reduce your shipping costs; unfortunately it also reduces our profit margin on each copy sold but hey).

I used Lulu before and will continue to do so but not for color books, as color printing on Lulu is too expensive.

European customers please buy printed books directly from us — DSLB is already available and TBH will be in a few days, I’ll announce it here – meanwhile, if you live in Europe and want a copy, please send me a message (Facebook, G+, Twitter, email, carrier pigeon, whatever) so I know how many to print. This helps us reduce waste of paper and money, making more books more likely in the long run.

Thanks!

Pics from this weekend’s games and convention 0

some pics from playtests at Ganesha central (my place– including some gladiatorial action), plus the Ganesha tables at Hellana 2012 (Agliana, Italy, last weekend). other pics are from local events such as a DBA tournament.

You can see Diego running a DSLB demo (Sergio couldn’t come because of his day job so Diego who has been the main playtester for DSLB stepped in to run the demo table). The two pics of a miniature are of a 10mm Oscan warrior painted by Fabio Farneti. Yes it’s 10mm…

You can also preview the SBH Card game cards (just joking — they are some impromptu mock-ups I did with some numbers and stick art).

TBP on its way to the editor…almost 0

The last draft of Tales of Beasts and Perils is finished. Kind of. I will send it to my editor tomorrow after I have checked it once more tonight. I have no idea how much time it will take him to correct it.

Tales of Blades and Heroes available on the Amazon Kindle 0

My rpg Tales of Blades and Heroes is on the Kindle.

In the future, you can expect a Kindle version of our games about a week after the main release although this cannot be a strict rule because certain books will be harder to convert than others.

This file is not DRMed in any way so it should be easy to convert to other ereaders using Calibre… but I cannot give any guarantees that it will work outside of the Kindle environment, sorry. I do not know what Amazon does to the file during the uploading/ formatting phase.

You understand that I cannot buy devices just to test the files on them :-) Please buy for other devices at your risk only…
